STARFORGED LEGENDS
PRE-EXPANSION EXPECTATIONS

Nobody had a clear idea of the new meta going into Shadowverse's fifth expansion-- and certainly nobody expected PDK, the third-worst rated legendary, to become so dominant in the new meta. For the first time, voters did not even get close to predicting the top archetypes-- let's review what they did foresee.

While all of these cards are certainly strong (except perhaps Twilight Queen), none of them have seen central play in the two domineering decks of the meta, PDK Dragon and Aggro Sword. The post-expansion voting will likely bring an entirely new set of Top 10 cards.

It's no surprise that these cards were so divisive for voters, as players continue to test the bounds of archetypes like Serpent Blood, ChimeraShift, and various Loki OTK decks. The great surprise was PDK, which has risen from meme status to one of the most significant cards of the expansion.

Following in the path of Corpselord of Woe, Mail of Obliteration has become the second legendary to ever make the Worst 10 list. Let's see if it, too, will be able to escape this list.

There was no keyword or general theme this expansion, so let's review the cards that have seen play in the two new dominant archetypes. Ironically, the two highest rated cards here are also the ones most tangential to Aggro Sword and PDK respectively.

Except for Dragon, which was (ironically) perceived to have been shafted this expansion, most factions received decently powerful and balanced tools. It's not clear if we will see more new archetypes in the days to come, like Ganesh Forest, Serpent Blood, and Avatar Haven.

This expansion featured the lowest average score ever, at only 52 points. Good balance, or excessively safe design? We'll see in the post-expansion voting.
