TEMPEST OF THE GODS
POST-EXPANSION IMPRESSIONS

The ultimate result of the expansion's meta bouleversements was two months of domination by Midrange Shadow and Ramp Dragon. While the archetypes have since suffered some nerfs, let's review how people felt about the meta as they experienced it.

While several archetypes got one or two powerful cards, Shadow and Dragon got a full swath, with the best card of the expansion-- and possibly the best card in the game-- going to Shadow.

Several top-tier cards flew under the radar this expansion: Orthrus, Catacomb, Zell, and Rahab were not given the moment's notice they deserved. On the other hand, Ouroboros suffered from initial confusion over its effect text.

The only card in this list to have seen widespread play is Dark Jeanne-- an AoE option for all variants of Haven. A consensus is still to be found, but most tournament lists are running 2-3 Jeanne, in both Aegis and Storm.

While initial Minthe scoring suffered from confusion over mechanics, it has been a disappointment to see how Blood Moon and Roland have fallen flat in the new meta. Vengeance has gained a strong foothold in the meta, but Blood Moon has not served a part in it.

Spring Cleaning has broken the record for lowest score ever, beating out Castle in the Sky at 11. Otherwise, there's nothing to see here.

This expansion chose to expand on the Enhance keyword from Bahamut, pushing out several insanely strong cards, the most representative being the new autoinclude Grimnir. Aerin, Lightning Blast, and Zombie Party also became powerful standard options in their archetypes.

This expansion featured two legendaries per class, thus opening multiple avenues for new deck archetypes. Now corrected for an initial underestimation of card strengths (never forget Eachtar was rated under Roland and Minthe), Dragon and Shadow take the domineering position in rankings as they did in the meta.

Tempest of the Gods has established a clearer gradient of power level by card rarity. In our survey for RoB, Silver and Gold both averaged 57, and Legendary was closer to the overall average.
